Elderberries are a good source of vitamins A and C - great in winter months to shorten colds - and are a powerful antiviral. As well as their significant immune-stimulating properties, they are one of the most powerful tonics for the respiratory tract and have been shown to be as effective as synthetic drugs in treating flu. Elderberries’ antimicrobial actions treat both bacterial and viral respiratory infections, proving helpful in resolving colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, head colds, tonsillitis, laryngitis and fevers. Its decongestant properties help alleviate mucous, catarrh and general congestion.
